Madison Hughes has broken her silence about a legal protective order granted against Jordan Patrick, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt instructor and competitor training at Kingsway in Austin, Texas.
In a public statement, Hughes detailed her experience with Patrick.
The situation culminated in a four hour evidentiary hearing in November 2025 where Hughes was granted a permanent protective order. According to court documents dated November 20, 2025 and signed by Judge Dimple Malhotra, the order remains in effect until November 19, 2027.
Patrick is prohibited from coming within 200 yards of Hughes, her residence or place of employment.
In February 2026 Hughes contacted Kingsway’s leadership directly. In her email to the academy she wrote:
“You have a black belt training, competing and potentially teaching at your academy who I’ve had experience with and I need to share it with you in the interest of safety.”
She offered to provide complete documentation to the academy.
“I am happy to make all of this available to you, as I am deeply concerned for your students and the integrity of your academy. I would hate for another woman to go through this experience.”
Hughes indicated that Patrick’s behavior has continued despite the court order.
“Despite the protective order being awarded, her harassment and stalking continues and I am currently preparing new evidence to escalate to the Austin PD ”
Beyond the official court filings Hughes says she possesses additional written materials authored by Patrick that were reviewed during the legal process. These include lengthy documents detailing
“extensive monitoring behavior, repeated attempts to locate me, and third-party contact about me,”
as well as text communications that Hughes describes as containing
“delusional accusations and conversations with AI as if it is a divine or authoritative source.”
Hughes acknowledged the personal cost of going public with her experience.
Her decision to speak out centers on protecting others in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community.
“I make this public out of deep concern for other women, students, academies unaware of her true nature. I want to protect our sport, and protect my sisters in BJJ.”
Hughes has made clear that any attempts to circumvent the protective order will be reported. She stated that
“any attempts to locate me, gather info, or make false accusations designed to discredit the abuse she caused, is in direct violation of the Court Order,”
and would be escalated to law enforcement and the court. Both Hughes and Patrick appeared in person at the final hearing with Hughes represented by attorney Jason P. Ortega. It’s unclear what, if anything, Kingsway did following this serious and well documented court measure against one of their instructors.
