Joey Diaz Fears He’s Going To Have A Heart Attack In Morning Class Jiu-Jitsu

During a recent UFC London podcast featuring Joe Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Eddie Bravo, and Joey Diaz, the 63-year-old comedian revealed that he is still hitting the mats and rolling with training partners half his age.

The moment came up in a roundabout way. Diaz had been explaining to the group why he stopped having morning s*x with his wife after turning 50, citing concerns about the higher likelihood of cardiac events in the early hours of the day.

Then, in classic Joey Diaz fashion, he caught himself mid-explanation and realized the logic did not quite add up.

“I cut out s*x in the morning,” Diaz told the group.

Rogan immediately asked the obvious follow-up: “Because you’re worried about getting a heart attack?”

Diaz confirmed the concern, and then pointed out the contradiction himself.

He said: “Yeah, but I’m at jiu-jitsu at 9:00 getting beat up by 20-year-olds. I’m like, what’s the difference? What’s the difference? I’m doing hip escape. I’m dying here.”

The contradiction was not lost on Diaz himself. Here was a man who had talked himself out of morning s*x over heart-health concerns, while simultaneously engaging in intense grappling rounds with 20-year-olds at nine in the morning. Once he said it out loud, the reasoning collapsed, and he arrived at the conclusion in his typically blunt style.

Diaz stated: “So I said, forget it. Let me start giving her a stab in the morning again.”

He added with a laugh: “But I did it after the PT41. So usually give your wife or your lover a stabbing and your d**k is like kind of weird for a little while. This s**t was up at detention by the time I was eating yogurt.”

Bravo, who runs 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, was sitting right there and did not react with surprise. Rogan, a longtime black belt, also laughed at his story.
