Mo Jassim, the former head organizer of the ADCC World Championships, has announced his retirement from organizing the prestigious event. However, Jassim will continue to focus on ADCC opens and trials, with a particular emphasis on youth competitors.
In a social media post, Jassim stated, “I announced my retirement from organizing ADCC world championships today. My focus now will be on opens and trials and my personal attention will be for the youth competitors.” He also mentioned plans to structure and announce future ADCC youth championships in the near future.
Jassim expressed gratitude to several key figures in the ADCC organization.
The former head organizer highlighted the current state of the sport, saying, “The sport has never been in a better place to break through mainstream, which has always been the end goal.” Jassim pledged his continued loyalty to ADCC while offering support to any organizer or event that aims to grow the sport.
Despite stepping down from the World Championships, Jassim remains active in the ADCC scene. In a recent livestream, he discussed upcoming ADCC opens in Miami (November 9th) and Austin (November 30th), with plans for an event in San Diego in January. He also mentioned exploring possibilities for events in various cities, including Nashville, Boston, and Charlotte.
Jassim‘s shift in focus aligns with his stated goal of paying more attention to youth competitors. This change in direction comes after successfully organizing multiple ADCC World Championships and contributing significantly to the sport over the past two decades.
Meanwhile Tom DeBlass claimed Jassim wasn’t fired, giving more air to Craig Jones’ claims that Jassim was let go from the prominent position.
