UFC Vegas 102: Gabriel Bonfim puts Williams to sleep with a D’arce

At UFC Vegas 102, Gabriel Bonfim secured a remarkable victory over Khaos Williams, ending the welterweight contest with a perfectly executed D’arce choke in the final moments of the second round.

The Brazilian sensation, who shared the card with his brother, demonstrated his evolving skillset throughout the bout. The opening frame saw both athletes testing the waters with jabs, while Williams attempted to assert dominance with powerful right hands. Bonfim remained composed, effectively utilizing low kicks and maintaining his distance.

As the second round unfolded, Williams initially found success with forward pressure, forcing Bonfim against the cage. However, the tide turned when Bonfim connected with a crisp left hook that visibly affected Williams’ balance. A series of precise jabs followed, causing Williams’ head to snap back and diminishing his aggressive approach.

With momentum firmly in his favor, Bonfim seized the opportunity in the closing minute, securing a takedown and advancing to mount position. When Williams attempted to scramble free, Bonfim expertly trapped his opponent’s neck, applying the D’arce choke that rendered Williams unconscious at 4:58 of round two.

This victory improves Bonfim’s UFC record to an impressive 4-1, with three of those wins coming by way of submission. The performance sets a high bar for the evening’s action and further establishes Bonfim as a rising force in the welterweight division.
