Former Karate competitor claims Karate is demonic: You need to repent if you’re doing Karate

A former competitive karate practitioner has sparked controversy by denouncing the martial art as “demonic,” urging current practitioners to abandon the practice and seek spiritual redemption.

The individual, who claims to have achieved a first-degree black belt at age 13 and participated in national karate competitions, shared their concerns about the spiritual implications of practicing karate.

“I’ve seen guys in their 60s from Japan kicking brick walls as hard as they could feeling no pain,”

the former practitioner stated.

“This stuff is demonic. The chi, the energy, the source of it is demonic.”

The controversial stance extends beyond physical demonstrations to cultural and religious aspects, particularly concerning Japanese spiritual practices.

“In Japan is rife with idol worship. They worship dead people which is necromancy in the Shinto faith, which is a dominant faith there,”

they explained.

These claims echo similar sentiments recently expressed by a televangelist who argued that karate, which means “empty hand,” creates spiritual vulnerabilities.

“When I empty my hand, that means my mind is becoming empty. When that happens, it’s not your hand anymore because a demon goes into your hand,”

the televangelist stated.

The religious figure also pointed to breathing techniques in martial arts as potentially dangerous, claiming they

“cause the brain to enter an altered state of consciousness” making practitioners susceptible to “spiritual influences.”

These perspectives have met significant resistance from martial arts communities, with many practitioners emphasizing the discipline’s focus on personal development and self-improvement rather than spiritual practices. Martial arts experts and religious scholars continue to debate these interpretations, highlighting the complex intersection of traditional practices and religious beliefs.

The former karate practitioner concluded their statement with a direct message to current practitioners:

“You need to repent if you’re doing these things because it’s wrong. It is demonic and it’s opening the door to demons.”
