Jay Rodriguez (J Rod) makes a statement after B team confirms he was banned

Former B Team athlete Jay Rodriguez, commonly known as J Rod, has broken his silence after being banned from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team.

In a video statement released on social media, Rodriguez acknowledged the ban and explained the circumstances that led to this decision.

“You may have heard that I have been banned from B Team and this is true,” Rodriguez stated. “Essentially I’ve had some unhealthy interactions with women in the gym.”

The grappler revealed that these issues have prompted him to seek professional help. “This has now led to me seeking help through therapy just for my p*rn addiction that I’ve had for quite some time now,” he said.

Rodriguez indicated he has been attending therapy for “the past few months” while also “further building my relationship with my beliefs, my religion.”

In his statement, the athlete expressed his commitment to personal growth, stating he is “working towards being a better person” and “changing my lustful ways.”

The B Team, founded by Craig Jones, Nicky Rodriguez, and Ethan Crelinsten among others, has not released additional details about the circumstances of Rodriguez’s departure. But they have confirmed it in a separate post that had the comments disabled.

Jay added: “just some more input, i agree with b teams decision and despite this stuff coming out life has been very peaceful. im very happy, and grateful for the people around me”

Both Craig Jones and B team simply announced:

“Jay Rod is no longer a part of B Team. He has stated the reasons for his removal.

B Team is a safe training place for all and we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone breaching that trust.”

This development comes as a significant change for Rodriguez, who had been a visible competitor representing the B Team in various grappling competitions.

Neither the team nor Rodriguez has commented on whether the ban is permanent or if there’s a potential path for reinstatement in the future. Rodriguez has been training at East Austin jiu jitsu in the mean time.
