Conor McGregor reunites with BJJ coach Dillon Danis in NY sparring session

UFC’s Conor McGregor, and his former training partner, Dillon Danis, recently shared pictures from a sparring session, creating a buzz among fans eagerly awaiting McGregor’s comeback.

McGregor’s comeback is under a question mark considering he’s not yet entered the USADA pool – which means he didn’t make the cut off for UFC’s last PPV on December 16th. McGregor has been coaching this season of TUF against Michael Chandler and failing miserably, as a coach he’s 0-4 this season.

Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis have had a dynamic friendship over the years. McGregor experienced his first UFC loss against Nate Diaz in 2016, prompting him to seek assistance from Danis, then a highly respected name in the world of jiu-jitsu.

Their training partnership blossomed, and Danis became an integral part of McGregor’s inner circle. In an interview, Danis even praised McGregor’s jiu-jitsu skills, acknowledging him as one of the best MMA practitioners he has rolled with.

The training session took place at Church Street, and McGregor’s post showcased his determination to make a successful comeback.

Fans flooded the comments section with support, jokes, and eagerness for McGregor’s return, highlighting their enthusiasm for witnessing his future in the UFC despite the recent allegations.

While McGregor and Danis have had a close bond, their friendship encountered some turbulence in recent years. McGregor’s public praise of Nate Diaz for an incident involving Danis raised questions about their relationship.

However, McGregor clarified in an interview with Ariel Helwani that he still considers Danis a good friend and acknowledged Danis’ value to the sport despite him undergoing a knee reconstruction.

“I saw when Dillon was here, I loved the little vibe yous had back and forth. Dillon is a good friend of mine… He had a knee injury, he’s only a young lad. He’s good for the game.”

Dillon Danis will be returning to the Polaris invitational soon and he’s trying to pressure Bellator into booking him for an MMA return as well though that’s under a question mark considering he’s been gone from the sport for years at this point.
