During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show featuring Michael “Venom” Page, host Joe Rogan shared a compelling account of Khamzat Chimaev‘s extraordinary grappling dominance that left even seasoned observers stunned.
Rogan revealed that Brendan Schaub had witnessed Chimaev‘s training camp firsthand and called him immediately afterward, visibly shaken by what he’d observed.
“Bro, we got to talk,” Schaub told Rogan. “I just got back watching Khamzat train. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.”
According to Rogan‘s account, Schaub described witnessing something unprecedented in mixed martial arts preparation.
“Dude, I’m telling you, he’s mopping the floor with like division one all-Americans, world class grapplers, jiu-jitsu black belts,” Schaub reported.
The level of dominance was so complete that it defied explanation – elite wrestlers and submission specialists were being systematically dismantled by the Chechen MMA star.
The most telling moment came when the training partners asked Schaub if he wanted to spar with Chimaev. His response was immediate and emphatic:
“F— you. I’m not going in there.”
This from a former UFC heavyweight who had faced some of the sport’s most dangerous competitors.
Rogan emphasized the overwhelming nature of what Schaub witnessed, noting that Chimaev “was mauling people on the ground” with a level of technical superiority that left experienced athletes helpless.
“He goes, ‘It was nuts. They asked me if I wanted to spar with him.’ He goes, ‘It’s nuts.’ He goes, ‘He’s so high level.'”
Page, who had trained alongside Chimaev in Dubai, corroborated these observations.
“I had the privilege of going to the gym in Dubai and training alongside him and I saw it for myself and it’s an overwhelming level of grappling,” Page confirmed.
The British striker witnessed firsthand how Chimaev‘s wrestling prowess translated into complete control over world-class mixed martial artists.
