Paweł Jaworski ppeared on the Filip Lewandowski Podcast to discuss the details of his ONE FC contract and his upcoming match against Tye Ruotolo.
On when he received the ONE FC contract offer, Jaworski said:
“We got the proposal before the IBJJF Championship final. During the competition. So I was also a little stressed before the match itself. Because it clearly said that I should win this match. To mark somewhere and confirm that I deserve this contract. And somehow I managed to win. So cool. I was very happy that it all went so well in time. Maybe it would be a little better if I got this proposal after the final. But somehow I didn’t feel it. So it’s nice that it turned out this way.”
When asked whether winningwas an actual condition of the contract, Jaworski said:
“I don’t know anything about it. I hope it wasn’t one of the conditions.”
On what the contract means to him, he said:
“For sure, it’s a very big distinction for me. I didn’t expect that I would get such a proposition. At this moment, I think that this is one of the best places for a judo player, to which you can go, due to the conditions and the whole environment related to the organization. So I’m glad that I was distinguished and that they noticed me there. I know that the contract is for one match, for this March match.”
On what happens if he wins the Ruotolo match, Jaworski said:
“Because this is also a match for the belt. So after winning, I should stay. I hope that nothing strange will happen. But yes, I should stay.”
On Tye Ruotolo as an opponent, Jaworski said:
” As for his style, I hope that his style will suit me. He is a bit chaotic in his style, but he is very good in the chaos he creates. It’s an element of his game that surprises your opponents. And I hope that we won’t get into this chaos. And I will manage to impose my game and I won’t get into his best positions and elements of the match.”
On the reaction to the match announcement, Jaworski said:
“If I’m not mistaken, I’m an underdog, a very big one. Compared to Tye, I’m, you could say, a no-name.”
On whether he has ever met Ruotolo in person, Jaworski said:
“No, I’ve never seen him in my life. I’ve only seen him somewhere on the Internet. In social media, he only gives a positive impression. He seems to be a good guy. And I hope he’s also like that live.”
Jaworski faces Ruotolo March 13th ar ONE FN 41.
