Yesterday we reported about Melqui Galvao’s arrest. Some new information has come to light.
Melqui Galvao was taken into custody in Manaus on Tuesday, April 28, following allegations of misconduct made by three female students.
The case against Melquisedeque de Lima Galvão Ferreira, known as Melqui Galvão, originated in São Paulo, where the 8th Women’s Defense Police Station launched an investigation after a 17-year-old athlete came forward. According to delegate Mariene Andrade, who is overseeing the case, the young woman reported that the alleged misconduct took place while she was traveling abroad for a jiu-jitsu competition in Italy.
Investigators say Galvão allegedly attempted to gain acces to evidence by accessing the young woman’s phone without her permission. When she told her parents what had happened, he reportedly moved to discourage them from pursuing the matter, offering professional and financial benefits to the family, including a proposal to establish a gym abroad.
As the investigation widened, two more girls he allegedly targeted were identified. One of them was just 12 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. Ria de Noticias confirmed her age separately. The parents of the young women cooperated with authorities, turning over an audio recording in which Galvão appears to indirectly acknowledge the allegations, along with a series of messages that investigators described as containing evidence.
The first 13 minutes of the audio was viewed and covered by us yesterday. Additional 3 minutes are currently being reviewed.
The SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat)laid out the sequence of events plainly in an official release:
“Given the facts, the delegate requested the temporary arrest of the suspect, which was granted by the Court. Search and seizure warrants were also granted, duly done by the 8th DDM team. On Monday night (27), the man surrendered to the Civil Police of Amazonas.”
Three search and seizure warrants were exercised in Jundiaí, but officers could not locate Galvão there, as he had already traveled to the state of Amazonas, where he held a position as a personal defense instructor within the Amazonas Civil Police.
That institutional connection added considerable complexity to the case. Galvão holds a tenured post as an investigator with the Amazonas Civil Police, a status confirmed through state transparency records in 2026. Because of his standing as a civil servant, his removal from the agency is not automatic. Any formal dismissal requires either a judicial ruling or the conclusion of an administrative proceeding, meaning he may remain formally linked to the institution even while suspended from active duties during the inquiry.
The Amazonas Civil Police moved swiftly to address the situation publicly. As per Folha:
“The Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) has taken precautionary measures to remove the officer from his duties, as legally permitted, until the investigations are concluded. Furthermore, it has already begun an investigation into the legality of his employment and any potential conflicts of interest in performing activities outside the state.”
The institution also referred the matter to its Internal Affairs Office to open a Disciplinary Administrative Proceeding, a formal review designed to examine the officer’s conduct and determine what further consequences may follow.
The São Paulo Court of Justice confirmed that the proceedings are under judicial confidentiality. Forensic analysis of the devices seized during the operation remains pending and the investigation is ongoing.
