A young UFC BJJ competitor is making headlines this week, though not for anything that happened on the mat. Landon Elmore, a 19-year-old purple belt under the legendary John Danaher, found himself in the middle of a real-world confrontation after a stranger targeted his girlfriend, Trinity Pun, at a retail store in Austin, Texas.
The whole thing was captured on security camera footage.
Elmore described the incident in a post to his social media following, explaining that he and Pun were browsing at a newly opened store near one of their favorite spots to eat when an unknown man deliberately got his attention and then slapped Pun.
According to Elmore, he immediately approached the man to confront him.
“He throws a punch at me and I sent him across the room and bloodied his face so bad you can’t see the lower half of his face,” Elmore wrote.
He added that store employees later informed him the man had a history of theft at the location and had previously been banned from the premises.
The security footage, which spread rapidly across grappling and martial arts communities online, shows exactly what Elmore described, with the aggressor being launched across the store floor in a single, efficient movement.
Pun herself also had a moment in the footage, with fans quick to notice she performed what appeared to be a leg drag on the individual as well.
One commenter wrote, “I love how Trinity does a sick leg drag! What a beast!”
Landon Elmore also shared a photo of his reddened, bruised knuckles after the altercation.
Community response was overwhelmingly positive. Grappling legend Renzo Gracie commented directly on the post with a string of applause emojis, writing: “Well done.”
Hundreds of others flooded the comments section with similar messages of support.
Additionally, Gordon Ryan shared a story about the incident involving Landon Elmore. Alongside the clip, Ryan wrote a caption, “Purple belt @landonelmorebjj playing with an untrained adult like a small baby. This is how easy street fights are.”
Elmore closed his post with what amounted to a public safety reminder, encouraging people to stay aware of their surroundings and be willing to stand up for the people they care about.
Elmore is considered one of the very few UFC BJJ competitors who remains exclusively signed to the promotion despite not yet holding a championship. He received his purple belt from Danaher in July 2025, posting his gratitude to both Danaher and fellow coach Gordon Ryan.
