An epic clash between two flyweight prospects at Georgian Fighting Championship (GFC) 27 ended in rare fashion when Edalet Zeynalov secured a rare scorpion rib crusher submission over Giorgi Magradze.
The bout started off as a fiery back-and-forth battle, with both Zeynalov and Magradze trading heavy blows. As the first round progressed, Magradze began to take control, dominating with his grappling and ground game. However, near the end of the opening frame, the tide turned drastically.
With Zeynalov pulling guard, he shockingly locked in a scorpion rib crusher submission, wrapping his legs around Magradze’s ribcage and applying torque with his arms. The excruciating technique is seldom seen in MMA or BJJ competition due to its low percentage of success against seasoned grapplers.
Incredibly, the maneuver proved effective against the overmatched Magradze. He fought valiantly to escape, but eventually succumbed to the agonizing pressure, tapping out late in the first round to hand Zeynalov an improbable submission victory in his pro debut.
While the scorpion rib crusher is considered a low-percentage technique at elite levels, Zeynalov’s successful application of the rare maneuver stole the show at GFC 27 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The 23-year-old Azerbaijani prospect kicked off his pro career in jaw-dropping fashion with the ultra rare submission.
On the losing end, Georgia’s Magradze falls to 0-2 in his young career after being the unfortunate victim of one of MMA’s rarest submission finishes. For Zeynalov, his stock rises dramatically following his incredible come-from-behind victory.
