How Many Times a Week Should I Go BJJ?

Are you a fan of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)? If so, you may be wondering how often you should practice the martial art. According to experts, the ideal frequency for BJJ casuals is two to three classes per week.

The Benefits of Regular BJJ Practice

Regular BJJ practice can help you become a better martial artist and stay in shape. It can also help you build self-confidence and learn self-defense techniques. Additionally, BJJ can help you build relationships with other practitioners.

The Slow and Steady Long Game

While two to three classes per week may not sound like a lot to the average practitioner, it is the slow and steady long game that experts recommend. BJJ is a lifelong marathon, not a sprint.

The Benefits of Taking Two Classes a Week

If you take two classes a week, you will maintain your skills and have time to practice outside of class. You can also use the extra time to focus on specific techniques or drills.

Rogan discussed the optimal way to go into BJJ on a podcast featuring Neuro Scientis Andrew Huberman. Huberman was a skater in his youth and had since picked up weight lifting.

“Ground game’s complicated. I mean, I’ve been training since 1996 and there’s still some s**t that I don’t understand. ”

Huberman asked: “And you recommend if someone were going to start they maybe 2 to 3 times a week or is it it’s a daily commitment?”

“No, you don’t have to do it every day. I mean, if you did, you’d get better, but you’d also get injured. So I think I think in the beginning, two times a week is really good and then build up to more if you enjoy it, I think you probably enjoy it. But I’ve seen people get pretty damn good inside of six months, especially someone like you is very physical and already in shape.”

The Benefits of Taking Three Classes a Week

If you take three classes a week, you will be able to gain and grow your skills. You will also have more time to practice and focus on specific techniques.
