Poirier will get a bronze statue of himself doing the guillotine if he finishes Makhachev with it

In a recent interview, UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier revealed his ambitious plans if he successfully guillotines Islam Makhachev in their upcoming bout. Poirier expressed his confidence in taking down Makhachev with his signature submission move, and has an unusual reward in mind if he emerges victorious.

“I’m gonna get one,” Poirier exclaimed, referring to the guillotine choke. “I’m gonna get one. Could you imagine if you freaking win like that? ”

The Louisiana native, who has racked up an impressive 28-6 record in the UFC, is so confident in his abilities that he’s already envisioned a unique way to commemorate the victory. “Yeah, I’ll get a bronze statue in my front yard of me in the guillotine position,” he stated with a grin.

Poirier’s coaches, Yamron and Mike Brown, have advised him to focus on other techniques, but the 32-year-old is determined to perfect his guillotine. When asked if he’s actively practicing the move, Poirier responded, “Yeah, of course… Oh my gosh.”

The American is known for his relentless style, which often puts his opponents on the back foot. His bout against Makhachev promises to be an exciting encounter, with Poirier’s ability to finish fights with submissions and knockouts making him a formidable opponent.

Makhachevwill be looking to capitalize on Poirier’s aggressive approach, but the American’s confidence in his choke might just give him the edge he needs to take home the victory.

If Poirier successfully executes his plan and takes down Makhachev with a guillotine, he’ll have earned himself a bronze statue to commemorate the achievement. With the two set to clash in the Octagon, fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling contest that could very well end with Poirier’s signature submission move.

Interestingly, Poirier was very close to finishing a guillotine on Khabib Nurmagomedov but never actually finished anyone in a pro MMA contest with that particular technique.
